Local outreach

Strengthening communities, stimulating integration and promoting diversity

As a responsible company, we want to play our part in the communities we operate in. By partnering with businesses and organizations in the regions around the world where ASML is located, we are building trust and giving back.

Making a difference in our communities

You’ll find ASML people spread over 60 locations across Europe, the US and Asia. With such a widespread presence, it’s important that we engage with and support the communities where we are based.

Our passionate employees contribute to local projects and organizations that make a difference in their community. And as a company, we provide sponsorship and donate funds to local nonprofit organizations.

Volunteering

Through our global volunteering program, managed bythe ASML Foundationwho is also a key partner of many of our local outreach activities, we encourage employees to become more involved in their local communities. Everyone is able to use eight hours a year as a paid volunteering day with the event, charity or activity of their choice within the criteria of this program.

Sponsorship

We support local projects and initiatives that focus on our three community engagement areas: education, local outreach, and arts and culture. The support we offer could be financial or the provision of knowledge and services, depending on the project.

Creating connections in communities

Partnership with PSV

In 2019, together with five other partners from the region, we became the main sponsor of our local soccer club:PSV. This club sits at the heart of our local community and is a uniting force for the health and social wellbeing of our local community. By joining forces, we can collaborate and do more together. We run a number of initiativestogether with PSV, including training camps for school-aged children, supporting an online vitality program, developing interactive teaching programs and make soccer accessible for members of the community facing hardships or those who are new to the region.

Brainport Eindhoven Partner Fund

We are part of theBrainport Eindhoven Partner Fund, where we share the ambition to strengthen the region and to support local people who are struggling. Through this partnership, we participate in community activities to help tackle urgent social challenges in the region – for example, we support services that provide budgeting and financial management advice for people in need.

Other social initiatives

We support a variety of other social initiatives. For example, we provide yearly donations to the local food bank, Ronald McDonald House and Stichting Leergeld. We also support regional activities that focus on building social connections and helping newcomers get acquainted with the region and local culture. And every year, in collaboration with theASML Foundation, organize the ‘Angel Tree’: a collection of presents for children whose parents are clients of the local food bank.

Beach cleanups

To help preserve and protect nearby nature, our teams in Asia participate in regular beach cleanups. Colleagues with family and friends put their appreciation for the environment into action by removing garbage from reservations and nature parks.

Holiday giving

Over the holiday season, our Christmas Shoebox Project collects gifts that are prepared and wrapped by ASML employees. The shoeboxes are sent to children from economically disadvantaged families in remote areas, bringing a spark of holiday joy with each delivery.

Food bank support

Every December in San Diego, our employees help package and sort food at our annual Food Sorting Night at the San Diego Food Bank. The food goes straight back into the community, provided to people in need.

Family Giving Tree

We also support the Family Giving Tree charity in Silicon Valley, collecting school supplies, backpacks and personalized holiday gifts across the year to be donated to disadvantaged families and individuals in the community.

Food drives

In San Jose, we have partnered with the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley for over a decade. Our local team hosts food drives and organizes volunteer groups to sort food at local warehouses throughout the year.
